TIRES,
 TPMS
& CTIS

Our customers can decide to purchase the tires and the CTIS separately of the rims and inserts, or to buy us full assembled and controlled wheels.
-In the first case, we give the buyer all possible information and advise in order to make the best technical choice. Nevertheless, guarantee concerns exclusively parts we sold.
-In the second case, we define the best choice of tires in accordance with the specifications and the budget. The difference is the warranty on the whole wheel.
Our systems work in accordance with the TPMS new regulations.

1-A new generation of CTIS

LANDSMARINE Systems and RFI industrial partner decided to select the new generation of MAVTEC CTIS equipment. We check and if necessary, we adapt the CTIS kit to the defined using. We take in charge on site or in UK the legal warranty and the maintenance. If we supply runflating inserts and rims, we offer a global one-year warranty whatever the problem.

Shortly:

  • Cost-effective
  • User-friendly
  • Minimum maintenance required
  • No rotating valves or couplings
  • No modifications of vehicle axles
  • System components are easily replaceable
  • Maximum mobility over a variety of terrains
  • Decrease in fuel costs
  • Decrease in mechanical driveline wear
  • Vehicle required to be stationary while full inflating of deflating

The C.T.I.S KITS

CTIS system is very important when using runflating inserts. It works in two-in-one essential functions: Automatic definition of the lowest tire pressure to avoid shock of tire by the inserts when running on sand or snow, and as a corollary, possibilitiy to use the entire range of the tire pressure control.
In case of low cost vehicle, the CTIS is an expensive system. Without CTIS, it is possible to work manually wheel by wheel using a central compressor system if knowing the lowest possible pressure before shocking tires.
A clever solution is to use the rim itself to bypass the airflow from the axle to the tire valve. It is possible only in case of aluminium rim.
If you defined your CTIS system before ordering your wheels, we can mount your CTIS valves on the rims or wheels we sold.
As specialist of full assembled wheels, we also can supply valves and CTIS system you choose. In this case, we guaranteee the whole wheel.

The MAVTEC CTIS Kit

The CTIS kit :

The kit is in according to all use :
-1 Control Panel : Auto-radio size with digital display.
-1 Manifold 4 to 8 channels : Pneumatic Control Unit for 4x4, 6x6 and 8x8 or more
- Wheel Valves : supplied with a dusk cover, for integration onto an aluminium rim or steel special RFI patented rims.
- 1 Cable : Wire-Harness CTIS 4x4 (5 meters or more)

Using :

-The Control Panel has a display to display each last tyre pressure reading.
-The systems will be preprogramed, so that they operate at first power up.
-Fine tuning of parameters is offered from a distance with TeamViewer conference with the builder.
-This offer is for a fully integrate valve, no visible fitting, hoses or pipes on the rim.
-The CTIS wheel valves come in a standard Anodized finish.
-Each wheel is individually managed, tyre by tyre management.
-Also deflation is made at the wheel. This allow for quick and clean release of dirty air from the tyres directly into open air. And deflation time is the same, whether deflating one or all tyres.
-Support can be given to suggest the rim milling to suit the CTIS valve interface.
-Using in low pressure mode on soft ground (sand, snow, mud...) with runflating inserts, it is necessary to define a "security pressure" in order to avoid shocks between inserts and tires.
-A compressor is necessary to inflare and deflare

2-TIRES for Runflating

Just as we must consider rim and insert together, we must buy the tire considering it is a part of the whole tactical wheel. Buying just because the brand is famous or because the price is low could create disappointments. Why ? Because in one tactical wheel, three materials have to work together despite structural differences. Remember at school the game Paper/Stone/Chisels…
For example, a rubber insert will burn the tire (and reverse) because rubber against rubber is a good fire machine. A strong plastic insert could cut the tire easily…
It could seems very strange that, using 3D models and simulations, algorithms and other tools, nobody can define with precision the final result of a runflating condition without organizing the right trial. Nevertheless it is a fact and unlike plastic or metal, rubber is “alive”.
For this reason, we organize our own confidential trials and we know all brands.
One point of doctrine is important: Doctrine says that a good result in runflating trial means tire is not destroyed. It is not logic and not in accordance with the real combat situations: If a vehicle in mission is in runflating situation in reason of lack of pressure, the cause is obviously a shot, an IED or a problem.. In this case, the only one way is to run fast.
It is the reason why RFI created inserts offering possibility to run without tires, thanks to the “intelligence” of the insert’s material.

Choosing Tire...

Moreover, sometimes manufacturers of tires modify a bit the formulation: It can change all the tests results. It is the reason why our worldwide experience is so important to guarantee the good final result.
There are five points to check, before choosing the tire:

  • Is the brand serious and well-known for a constant quality ?
  • Which material is the insert made of?
  • Is the bead is accordance with the use (rigidity, lack of gap) ?
  • Is the side wall “normal” or reinforced ? Contrary to apparent logic, reinforced side wall is an heritage of old conceps of “runflating”, without inserts and CTIS. Today, using CTIS, the variation of pressure is dangerous for the reinforced sidewall with risk of fast broken. A flexible sidewall is better

Shortly, we recommend Michelin XZL+ despite high price, Pirelli PS22 Pista for well balanced price/quality, except for 1600R20 (no production), Continental HCS and Goodyear Offroad ORD as challengers in 1400R20.
Nevertheless short list is never definitively completed.
